St Aubyn Estates visit the RNLI Penlee Lifeboat StationPosted by: editor | March 14, 2017
St Aubyn Estates works closely with a number of charities, and nominates a specific charity every two years as the Company Charity. The nominated Company Charity for 2016/17 is the Penlee Lifeboat Station. In the past year we have enjoyed hosting a Fish Supper at the Godolphin Arms, several fundraising raffles and coffee mornings, and have welcomed the Ivan Ellen lifeboat into the St Michael's Mount harbour for our Lifeboat Day. Staff members get involved in the fundraising activities and as a thank you 12 members of St Aubyn Estates staff were invited to the Penlee Lifeboat Station in Newlyn, and were taken on a very special trip on the Ivan Ellen lifeboat. Staff from the Godolphin Arms, Estate Office, St Michael's Mount & The Saturday Gang presented two cheques totalling £1,856 to Coxswain Patch Harvey.
As the nominated charity of St Aubyn Estates, we have raised over £3,000 towards the Penlee Lifeboat Station Appeal. Louise Batty said of the day "The 12 of us had the chance to travel around the bay with the amazingly heroic RNLI crew on the Ivan Ellen. We visited the location where the Penlee Lifeboat Disaster tragically occurred on the 19th December 1981 - a truly moving experience."
A big thank you to the Ivan Ellen crew, and Elaine Trethowan for organising such a memorable experience.
